Current Winning Bidder: drob    Current Bid:  $65   Quantity Available: 6   "The 2005 Clinet boasts a+K6967 fabulous nose of blueberries, violets, truffles, subtle wood, and cold steel. Inky/purple-hued, full-bodied, and multilayered with adequate acidity, this exceptionally well-endowed, pure effort is a tour de force in winemaking. Although it is high in tannin, there is so much fruit and glycerin (the alcohol must be 14+%) that it should be drinkable in 4-6 years, and keep for three decades." RP

Haut Bailly 2005
Current Winning Bidder:  New Item   Starting Bid:  $70   Quantity Available: 6   "This is the finest Haut-Bailly I have ever tasted, although I suppose the 1900 or 1928 may have possessed similar qualities at the same age. Quintessentially elegant and rich, with surreal lightness and delicacy, it displays an inky/ruby color and beautiful aromas of sweet raspberries, black currants, flowers, graphite, and minerals. Medium-bodied and stunningly concentrated with moderately high but sweet tannin, this modern day legend represents a new reference point for this estate (now American-owned). Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030." RP

Margaux 2003 375ml
Current Winning Bidder:  New Item   Starting Bid:  $200   Quantity Available: 1   "Am I being too stingy with the 2003 Chateau Margaux? A wine of extraordinary complexity and intensity, it reveals a deep purple color, a style not unlike the 1990 Margaux (possibly even more concentrated), a velvety texture, and notes of spring flowers interwoven with camphor, melted licorice, creme de cassis, and pain grille. Not a blockbuster, it offers extraordinary intensity as well as a surreal delicacy/lightness. There is riveting freshness to this offering, which tips the scales at a lofty (for this estate) 13.5% alcohol, as well as an alluring sweetness and accessibility. It probably will tighten up over the next few years. Nevertheless, it is a profound Chateau Margaux that brings to mind a hypothetical blend of the 1982 and 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2035. Marojallia 2005
Current Winning Bidder:  New Item   Starting Bid:  $90   Quantity Available: 6   "excellent bouquet of licorice-infused blueberries interwoven with crushed rock, white flower, and cassis scents emanates gently but forcefully from this full-bodied Margaux. The wine is extremely pure and elegant, with sensational texture (a characteristic of so many ‘05 Margaux), a boatload of ripe tannin, and a 45-second finish. While there is tremendous power, depth, and fruit, it does not come across as too heavy or overbearing" RP

Monbousquet 2005
Current Winning Bidder: stewman    Current Bid:  $60   Quantity Available: 6   "exhibits plenty of toasty oak, roasted herb, meat juice, blackberry, cherry, and spice characteristics along with a touch of incense. Full-bodied and opulent, with an atypically rigid structure, this is a remarkable achievement for such a humble terroir" RP

Montrose 1990
Current Winning Bidder: hymanroth    Current Bid:  $365   Quantity Available: 2   "incredible complexity and massive character. in very tough company (Cheval Blanc 1989 and 1990, Pichon-Lalande 1989 and 1990, Certan de May 1989 and 1990), proved the over-whelming choice... The wine is remarkably rich, with a distinctive nose of sweet, jammy fruit, liquefied minerals, new saddle leather, and grilled steak. In the mouth, the enormous concentration, extract, high glycerin, and sweet tannin slide across the palate with considerable ease. It is a huge, corpulent, awesomely-endowed wine that is still relatively approachable; it should last for 25-30, possibly 40-50 years." RP
