The Founder
Brentwood Wine Company’s founder is David Parker. David was most recently Director of Engineering at Tektronix, Oregon’s largest locally-based high technology company, where he headed Network Computer and Internet-based product development. Before that, he worked in the San Francisco Bay Area in various engineering management roles. David has started several successful businesses.David owns and operates two commercial vineyards, one in the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, California and the other in the Eola Hills above the Willamette Valley in Yamhill County, Oregon, with his wife Sandy Sturrus Parker. (She tells him he's about to become the world's first Bachelor of Wine (tm) so often, we've trademarked it!) Dave has been closely involved with the wine industry since 1987. He is also an avid wine collector.
The contacts David has made in the high technology and wine industries have given him the means to use the Internet to solve two long-standing problems in the wine industry: How do wine producers get direct contact with a community of consumers who understand and appreciate high quality wine in order to "tell their story", efficiently allocate high demand/low production wines and bring new high quality wines to market? How do consumers get easy access to the best quality wines, with the assurance of good storage and shipping conditions and a good price?
In May, 1998 David left the high tech world to found Brentwood Wine Company, devoted to bringing the world’s best wines to wine lovers.
